Since 1956, Trans Guyana Airways (TGA) has been providing convenient and reliable service to the people of Guyana, allowing them to travel both inter-regionally and internationally in safety and comfort. What started as a dream now stands as a testimony to the dedication and commitment shown by all those who have passed through Trans Guyana over the years. The founder of TGA, Manoel Correia, started on shaky footing, buying his first aircraft with a portion of his personal savings and thus planting the seed of what is now the seasoned tree of Trans Guyana Airways. The first of the Correia Group of Companies to exist was the Correia Mining Company (CMC). Its endeavors ventured deep into the unexplored rainforests of Guyana where access and transportation were dangerous and near impossible. Thus, the need for other means of passage arose and TGA was born. From 1956 to 1966, TGA operated with just one aircraft, enough to meet the demands of the miners. Then, as interest grew and Michael Correia Snr. took the reins, the company’ s second plane, a Britten Norman Islander, was bought. From 1988 until now, with Michael Correia Jnr. as CEO and current owners being the third generation of Correias since Manoel, six additional aircrafts have been acquired, taking our fleet total to eight.
